The Organization:

The mission of the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) is to gather ideas, commitments, and ultimately concrete contributions from its members. Established in 2005 by President Bill Clinton, the Clinton Global Initiative brings together global leaders to create and implement innovative solutions to the world’s most pressing challenges. CGI Annual Meetings have seen, in total since 2005, more than 150 Heads of State, 20 Nobel Prize laureates, and hundreds of leading CEOs, heads of foundations and NGOs, major philanthropists, and representatives of the media. To date CGI members have made more than 2,300 commitments, which have improved the lives of over 400 million people in more than 180 countries. When fully funded and implemented, these commitments will be valued at more than $73.1 billion.

SymbioSwiss Involvement:

Claude Béglé is a member of the CGI and has, through one of SymbioSwiss sponsored companies (SwissNewater) made a firm commitment to the CGI. Specifically, in 2012, Swiss Newater ( SNW) and SymbioSwiss committed to providing clean water to three hospitals in developing countries. SNW water is electrolyzed and then can be used for disinfecting and cleaning hospitals, surgical areas, hospital rooms and medical equipment. This is an efficient way and with a very low ecological foot print. All forms of micro-organisms are eliminated, including germs, bacteria, viruses, algae and mold spoors. The water electrolysis machines necessary to this process will be initially located in three different countries.
SymbioSwiss will also second the EHL in its CGI commitment on Sustainable Hospitality, a research and education program to investigate benchmark and recommend the best CleanTech Technologies, as well as best practices to ensure a real sustainability in the field of Hospitality ( hotels, restaurants, tourism).
